The Board of Trustees of the NB Pipe Trades Employee Life Health Trust are pleased to announce some upcoming changes to your health plan. The following changes will take place July 1,2024:
1) Massage Therapy will be added to the plan. Coverage for Massage Therapy will be combined with Chiropractor for a total of $500.00 per calendar year. No referral will be required for Massage Therapy, but the service must be done by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).
2) Counselling coverage will be increased. Coverage for Counselling will be increased to $1500.00 per calendar year; the service must be done by one of the approved providers: Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Counselling Therapist, or a Registered Social Worker.
3) Glasses coverage will be increased. Coverage for Glasses will be increased to $400.00 every two years for Plan members aged 19 or older, and $400.00 every one year for dependents under 19.
4) Cataract Lens will be covered at $1000.00 per eye per lifetime.
5) Therapeutic Wigs will be covered at $500.00 every three years based on eligibility.
6) Blood Glucose Monitor – FreeStyle Libre Reader’s will be covered at $120.00 every two years.
7) Weekly Income / Short Term Disability benefits will be increased to $500.00 per week.
Please note, coverage amounts, and cycle dates will not be reset. Previous usage for the year/ cycle will remain and applied to the updated benefits. In the case of Massage Therapy, only services that are rendered on July 1, 2024 or later would be covered, granted the member has the necessary funds remaining from their previous 2024 Chiropractor usage.
